"I think it's a tremendously historic day that will help not just families in Canada, but people across the border who are wrestling with this question, of how the denial of marriage harms gay people and their loved ones," said Evan Wolfson, executive director of Freedom to Marry, a gay-rights coalition based in New York.
"Canada is setting a standard for inclusion and fairness, and offering the real proof that ending discrimination helps families and hurts no one."
Wolfson said of Canadians: "We now have the benefit of your wind in our sails, and we are charting the same course." (SFGate)
That was so well said that all I can add is, thanks, Canada. Thanks for making me feel just a little more normal and human today. We do have the benefit of your wind in our sails.
I smiled from ear-to-ear when I heard the news. It's a day of celebration for so many people! There's hope yet.

Houston, there is nothing 'normal' about you. You are one of the most 'extra'ordinary people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.
I read an intersting article in Rolling Stone a few days ago (more on that over at Words) the writer was talking about the upsurge of Americans who seem to want to move backwards with this refusal to allow gays inclusion in the life process. It ended with the uplifting thought that regardless of how American may or may not have voted this past November, gays will eventually become part of the accepted norms. Simply because as younger voters mature and begin to vote more, they will insist on leaders who will put forth the agenda of rights and fairness for all. He predicted that this past election was the final bruhaha for the ultra-conservative. I pray he is right.

Me has loved Canada for years and this is just one more reason. Just maybe the most important well at least it put it right next to making my ability to smoke pot just a o'kay. Houston you are more normal than most so never doubt that.
